Get to Know Kim Robertson

Kim Robertson’s initial goal was simple. He wanted a “good sales job” and he “wanted to make some dough.”

At least, that’s what he thought he was looking for.

Then he met Ben Zhang. Robertson was drawn to the Greater China CEO and Founder’s enthusiasm.

The more Robertson thought about a career at Greater China, the more he realized the company had what he was looking for-- a great opportunity, challenge and potential. And then there was Zhang.

Ben’s passion for the work Greater China does sealed the deal.

“Initially it was Ben’s enthusiasm,” said Robertson, Greater China’s Senior Import Executive. “Thinking more about it, it was a great opportunity! Ben is very “customer first” focused and the company does great things to serve and exceed our client’s expectations.”

It has been 16 years since Robertson joined the team back in 2000. But, despite his experience and knowledge base, the custom OEM product manufacturing business is always changing, so he understands the importance of constantly evolving in the industry.

“No one can be an expert, but I have seen a lot over the years,” he said. “There is always room to grow and more to learn.”

When asked to pick the favorite project he’s worked on during his time with Greater China, Robertson pointed to a large order of small canvas frames for a company he had been working with for a while.

The project wasn’t overly complicated, but he enjoyed the challenge of working under a tight deadline. “The project was simple, but fun,” he said. “We had a lot to get done in a certain amount of time.”

Robertson’s goal is to continue to grow in the industry and offer custom solutions to his client base as he helps the sales team achieve both monthly and annual goals.

“With the nature of the Advertising Specialty business,” Robertson said, “being in his position at another company might not be as enjoyable.” But working for Greater China, Zhang and the Greater China team, is the key to success.

“Ben and the management team have developed a very team-oriented and professional environment. This is a very hard job. It’s not an easy industry to be in, but having helpful teammates and support really makes all the difference.”
