Ben Zhang is an award winning entrepreneur and owner of several businesses. Ben brings decades of international trade and business expertise to the leadership team at Greater China. Originally from Shanghai, Ben holds a B.S. in Economics from the University of Washington, MBA from Cornell University and OPM from the Harvard Business School.
Ben has received the University of Washington Foster School of Business “Asian Business Leadership” Award, and also City University’s Global Innovator Award for multi-cultural business. Among his diverse business activities, Ben also serves as a valued Board member of the Washington State China Relations Council. In 2013 Ben was honored to be invited by Washington State Governor, Jay Inslee, to be part of his China trade delegation.
Ben resides in Bellevue, Washington with his wife and two children and enjoys playing golf in his free time.
Mel is Greater Human Resource Manager. He has been with Greater China since 1996 and was its first employee. Mel has filled many management positions within Greater China during the company's history. He has extensive experience on both the import and production side of operations to compliment his sales background. Mel is a graduate of the University of Washington TMP Management Program, where he also received his BA in Human Resource Management.
Mark is Marketing Manager for Greater China and has been with the company since 1998 and filled a number of sales and management positions. Mark is working to enhance brand recognition for Greater China. His goal is to continually build brand awareness for Greater China in the marketplace and communicate the Greater China value proposition in all aspects of the company's marketing, advertising, promotions, product flyers, and communications. Mark has an MBA from Seattle University and BS degree in Marketing from the University of Washington.
Mervin Olieslager is the company Financial Controller. He is a recent immigrant from Cape Town, South Africa, where 14 years ago he started a manufacturing business with 3 partners in the Ostrich Leather manufacturing industry. His company manufactured and exported handbags, wallets, purses and belts from ostrich, crocodile and other exotic leathers. At the time of his departure he was Financial/Operations Manager.
Although from an accounting background, Mervin takes a “hands-on” approach to business operations, with a view of improving business processes and delivering efficiencies in operations.
Mervin has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business through Newport University, California, and is in the process of doing his dissertation to complete his MBA through Milpark Business School, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Paul is Greater China’s Logistics Manager and possesses over 22 years of international logistics and customs brokerage experience. Paul has worked as a customs runner, entry writer and senior import manager for a customs brokerage firm, and has managed Greater China’s logistics since 2001. Paul is in the process of obtaining his customs broker license and is presently supervising the implementation of Greater China’s in-house customs brokerage.
Jun Liu is the Import Manager of Greater China. She has 12 years of experience in importing goods in different categories from China, from commodities to OEM items, from orders for inventory and retail items to rush order for promotional item for different events. She has aggressive sourcing and negotiation skills, unique problem solving strategies, detail-oriented production management. She is excellent in quality control and risk management, and very familiar with government and environmental compliance, international shipping procedure. She also has strong management background, from President of Student Union at high school, to Student Union board member as undergraduate at college, to manager at the university she worked for in China, to Import Manager of Greater China, managing the import and production team in USA and Quality Assurance and Compliance team in China. She holds Bachelor of Engineering in Management from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Master of Science in Economics from Fudan University and MBA from University of Cincinnati. Jun was previously a professor in International trade and international finance in China, teaching negotiation, marketing, international business and international finance classes.
